Child & Youth Services

Our trauma informed counselling program Healing Hearts helps children and youth process their feelings and heal from witnessing intimate partner violence. (Ages 4 -18 years)

This trauma-informed counselling program aims to break the cycle of intergenerational violence by helping children process their feelings and heal from exposure to IPV. We provide parenting support through advocacy, family counseling, and psychoeducation, equipping mothers with the knowledge and skills to prevent family violence. Additionally, we offer play therapy and expressive therapies, such as art, sand tray, storytelling, role-playing, journaling, movement, and music, to help children connect with themselves and others.

Youth participants are encouraged to:

  • draw on their individual strengths as protective factors to examine their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in relation to their lived experiences.
  • identify and set personalized meaningful goals that support their ongoing development and wellbeing.
  • reflect on their emerging identity, personal values, and factors that shape their sense of self
  • strengthen autonomy by recognizing themselves as the expert of their own experiences and building self-efficacy through informed choice and decision-making.
